Community Supported Agriculture
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a cooperative relationship between farmers and community members. By paying for your shares well before the season starts you directly support the crop planning (which starts the year prior) and the upfront operational costs of our growing seasons—including, but not limited to purchasing seed, fertilizer, start mix, and other farm infrastructure. Furthermore, securing your membership early gives the farmer crucial time to scale and expand field plantings to perfectly accommodate an influx of new members before the growing season officially begins. Because we utilize sustainable methods like tarps and cover crops in place of harmful, synthetic herbicides, we require this vital lead time to naturally prepare and cultivate our growing areas.
Please read through ALL of our CSA information before inquiring about signup. Once we’ve verified you’re in our delivery area we’ll send over an order form; please read the information in the order form carefully.
1. What is a CSA and is it right for you?:
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. This is where members of the community buy shares of a farm’s harvest in advance to help share in the cost of production and lessen the need for marketing. This gives the farmer time to worry about what’s really important – taking care of the land and growing high quality produce for their members. We offer a traditional CSA model which is typically not customizable; produce varies week to week dependent upon what’s ready in the garden. Some weeks won’t have any options, some weeks will. It can be a fun culinary challenge; however, if you’re not up for a little challenge, this may not be the best option for you.
2. Timing for 2027 Seasons:
These are target dates and are subject to change pending on weather and other factors. As much notice as possible will be given for any changes.

3. Pricing:
Members choose between a full or half share. Full share is $40/week and will accommodate a household of 4+. Half share is $25/week and is more suited for a 1-2 person household. Members will receive a total of 12 weeks of produce for spring and 12 weeks for fall. *Weekly shares come in a reusable produce box. We provide 2 boxes per member, per season. Please leave your box on your porch each week for us to pickup at delivery. The need for any additional boxes will be $4.*
4. Payments:
*Please contact us for the order form before sending payment
Payment for each season is due in full at the time of signup; you can sign up for one at a time or both at once. Payment completes the sign up for each season and can be made via cash, check, or Venmo. Checks can be made out to Pine Dell Farmstead. Signup is not complete until payment has been received.
SPRING – Half Share: $300 / Full Share: $480
FALL – Half Share: $300 / Full Share: $480
5. Deliveries:
No farm pickup for 2027 – DELIVERY ONLY. As of right now delivery for the 2027 CSA is Saturday. Our service area is some of the Williamsburg area of James City County (not the City of Williamsburg). Contact us to see if you’re in our delivery area and we can send the order form to fill out. If you’ll be out of town one week and can’t find someone to grab your order from your house, that week’s share can be donated; we do not sub/refund/credit for missed weeks.
*We are considering an off-farm pickup location; this would supplement delivery, not replace it. TBD.
6. What’s in your weekly share?:

Each week includes at least 5, sometimes 6 units of various items made or grown right here on our farm*. An email will go out each week letting you know what’s in your box along with some recipes and ideas for what to do with each item and tips for storage. We take pride in our growing practices – while we’re not certified organic, we use organic growing practices. This means, even though we try our best during wash/pack to make sure there’s not, a small amount of the produce you’ll receive may have a “friend” included with it.
Produce will vary by season; some things you might receive each season –
- For SPRING –
- 🥬 Greens & Salads – Salad mix, Head lettuce, Spinach, Micro greens, Arugula, Baby kale, Swiss chard

*There are occasions where we may have a crop failure. In a traditional CSA, this would fall under the SHARED RISK factor and there would simply be less units that week. However, we usually ‘eat’ the loss if possible and may source the failed crop. In the event that we source, we make sure we know and trust that our source’s growing practices align with ours. If we cannot find a local, reliable source members simply won’t get that item that season. We may also opt to swap the loss with pickles, jams, or fresh milled items such as corn meal or flour or our baked goods.
7. Add-Ons:
Members will be able to add items to each share on a weekly basis depending on availability. These items may include eggs, honey, cut flowers, baked goods made with organic fresh milled flour, and possibly some canned goods such as jams, jellies, & pickles.
